Shark Wheel shipping has begun!
Hundreds of sets have been sent out to backers. We are still in the process of shipping ‘Kickstarter Green’ wheels for another week or two. After green wheels are shipped, red wheels will be next, followed by blue, then orange, and finally yellow. Thank you everyone for your patience-the process of designing molds to make this complicated geometry took us over 6 months to master. Rest assured we are hard at work fulfilling orders as quickly as we can.
If you have not selected your color choice, please email Zack@SharkWheel.com and Jake@SharkWheel.com to pick between green, red, blue, orange, and yellow. Other colors coming out in the near future.
Shark Wheel is now in production. If you are a Kickstarter backer and have an URGENT request for wheels by Christmas please contact us NOW by emailing Jake@sharkwheel.com. Details and pictures of production wheels coming!
We had the pleasure of meeting Troy and he asked if he could try out some of the latest prototypes. This video is compiled from two separate runs. The first run (where he’s not wearing the black hoodie) is using a less expensive 78a material with offset hubs that were very gummy. He cleaned them to smooth in a single run and couldn’t get to a speed he wanted. We expected this but were glad he affirmed our hypothesis. He then took the next best material we had.
The second run is on a slightly harder wheel formula (Aend Industries). Troy had no trouble getting to 50+ mph as you can see in the video. This prototype material won’t go towards production, but we wanted him to give us feedback on the wheel geometry and performance.
Huge thanks to Troy for testing and we look forward to getting video of him with production-ready wheels soon.
Shark Wheel recently filmed an episode for the Discovery Channel Daily Planet show.
Host Lucas Cochran and David Patrick spent the day at the Shark Wheel offices in Southern California discussing how the Shark Wheel was invented and what the future looks like for Shark Wheel.
They then head down to legendary Venice Beach, California where Shark Wheel successfully test their all new 58mm street wheel to an enthusiastic crowd in Venice. Lucas also took the wheel to the godfather of skateboarding himself, Tony Hawk, for his take on the Shark Wheel. Watch the episode by clicking here...
Bradley talks all about how the Shark Wheel came to be and how it shows that you CAN ”re-invent the wheel”.
Bradley also discusses all of the benefits of the Shark Wheel and how it can be used in all kinds of applications. Click here or on the image to watch the show.
On July 8th, 2013 Shark Wheel successfully funded its first ever launch via Kickstarter. We met our initial goal of $10,000.00 in just 72 hours!! We eventually raised $79,350.00 in just over 30 days!
These funds will be used to do all of the metal tooling for the 70mm Longboard wheel as well as 2 others (the 52mm trick wheels and the 64mm cruisers.)
Also, we had an enormous amount of requests from the Quad Skate industry and we will be working with them to come up with a version just for that market.
We currently are targeting September for the delivery of production wheels to our over 1,000 Kickstarter backers! We are also going to be creating our dealer/distribution channels all over the world and are excited about the many other opportunities that came our way over the last 30 days. The response from the community was incredible. We were overwhelmed with the amount of requests for sponsorships, distribution, new markets and so much more.
Shark Wheel is a portfolio company of the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI-www.laincubator.org). Thanks to LACI, Shark Wheel has swiftly moved from the idea phase through the development phase.

When people first see the Shark Wheels that cant believe that something that looks like a square could possibly roll perfectly, let alone outperform a traditional wheel. Click on the video below to see what a professional rider thinks before and after trying the shark wheels…
